Busy Busy Busy
Edit: Looks like today the update isn’t gonna happen. Sorry guys – I underestimated how many things I needed to add! Check back tomorrow evening.
Here there world! I have been remiss in my duties of update my poor little blog – many apologies to all of you that come here and check out the models. I hope to have everything updated later on today – tons of new pictures to share, so check back soon!
Brigitte, Naughty Maid
I realize nowadays that I’m lucky to add one post to my blog in a month…so here’s the obligatory October post! The first model pictured is a Hasslefree Geisha with heaping gobs of freehand on her robes. The second is a Freebooter Huntress model, and last, but certainly not least, is a Rotten Belle from Wyrd Miniatures. Enjoy!
Lahmia Vampire
So…it’s been a while, and for all of you that stop by from time to time, I apologize. I’ve been painting quite a few things for Wyrd Miniatures of late, some of which I still can’t show you, and some of which I’ve just been too darned lazy to upload. Again, huge apologies. At any rate, after a bit of painters block – two minis thrown in the garbage they were so terrible and the flow wasn’t happening – I managed to finish this girl. She’s a Classic Lahmia Vampire from Games Workshop. I don’t normally paint GW unless it’s Games Day time, so this was a treat for me, and hopefully for you as well. Feel free to check out her auction on eBay if you’d like to add her to your miniature collection.
Sad Girl
This model was a limited edition piece produced by Cool Mini Or Not last year. I was lucky enough to snag one, and had a very nice time painting her. She sits in contemplation on her rock in a calm black sea.
She can be found on eBay here.
Just because I don’t always write about what I’m doing, it doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything.
Here are the three most recently completed vanity projects I’ve worked on.
The first is Sarah, from Hasslefree, stand on a dias with a “life sized” egg mirroring the egg of her dragon hatchling. This is a 54mm model (my first in that scale in a long while)
Next is Lilith, a limited edition miniature from Dark Age Games. This model’s concept was based on a fantastic piece of art from Brom, and so I chose to paint her faithful to the original source material. Sculpted by Tom Meier, this model has an amazing amount of detail – loved her all the way!
Last, but not least, is Cersei Lannister from Dark Sword Miniatures, again sculpted by the wonderful Tom Meier. She is based on the Song of Ice and Fire series of novels (still haven’t read those!) My favorite detail is the marble floor!
ZOMG – Wyrd Minis Galore
So this has been a busy week & a half for me. Lots of minis to paint, and a fist full of personal/family business to hold things up. We have below the “Ortega” clan from Wyrd miniatures. These were painted in a semi-realistic style a la the Old West – no bright colors that would only appear on Spandex fabric with these guys. We have from left to right: Santiago, Francisco, Nino, Papa Loco & Perdita. You can find these wonderful models available for purchase @ Wyrd Miniatures, CMON, or if you’re lucky enough, your local hobby retailers (unpainted & unassembled of course).

Edit 6/5/09 – Circumstances regarding Mr. Carradine’s death are slowly being revealed now…looking less & less like a suicide and more like erotic asphyxiation. A little less dignified than suicide, but a hell of a way to go for a septuagenarian.
Another of my childhood icons passed away this week. David Carradine (December 8, 1936 – June 3, 2009) died of an apparent suicide in Bangkok yesterday. David opened the world of kung fu movies and television to me, and continued to entertain me long into my adulthood. Thank you for gracing the world for so very long with your life & talent. I hope that you’ve found peace.
